Better nutrition is not rocket science, but it sure seems like it. Everyday we’re bombarded with the latest fast food combo deals or extra large upsizing options that look like miniature buckets! Its time to take charge …these 4 principles are things you should implementing today.
1. Eat every 3 -4 hours. Yes that’s right, eating smaller more frequent meals is the way to go. Why you ask? Main reason is it will speed up your metabolism because you’re grazing throughout the day, as opposed to eating 3 monster meals. Secondly, you’re body will have a constant supply of balanced nutrients throughout the day, therefore operating more effectively, and lastly it will keep your blood sugar stable.
2. Drink more water. Most people don’t drink enough water, and when you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. The average person should drink 96 ounces. 1 cup is 8 ounces, so the easiest way to do that is drink a large glass of water (2 cups) before or during each meal. By drinking before you’ll trick you’re body into feeling full and will be less likely to overeat.
3. Eat breakfast. Think you’re cutting calories by not eating breakfast? Think again…by skipping out on breakfast, you end up starving yourself mid-morning, you’re body goes into starvation and then when you eat, your body will store that food as fat because its not sure when it’ll have food again! By eating breakfast it will actually kick start your metabolism! Think of break fast as: breaking the fast. Remember that you probably haven’t eaten for around 15 hours, so you’re not producing the enzymes needed to metabolize your fat.
4. Avoid the ‘fat free’ products. Guess what, most these products have even more sugar that will in turn be stored as fat. You think you’re doing a good deed by purchasing these, but hey, if you’re not even liking the flavor then you’re going to probably binge and get your fat elsewhere through junk food. Its much better to eat smaller portions then hate what you eat.
